SUMMARY:Tony Monaco\, Bruce Forman and Deszon Claiborne
DESCRIPTION:Tony Monaco \nTony Monaco may be the best organ player you have yet to hear of flying stealth while playing arguably some of the hottest B-3 around. Mentored by the legendary Jimmy Smith in what is considered the more classic style\, Monaco does not swing\, smolder or smoke. “Tony Monaco burns is this most fitting!” CriticalJazz Review2012. Tony Monaco began his keyboard life at age eight. When he was twelve\, his destiny as a jazz organist was sealed when he first heard Jimmy Smith. An enthusiastic student\, Tony began working in Jazz clubs as a teenager in his native Columbus\, Ohio\, guided by local organ gurus Hank Marr and Don Patterson. Four years later\, Jimmy Smith invited Tony to come play at his club in California\, a peak lifetime experience for Tony. \nBruce Forman \nA hectic touring schedule; twenty-one recordings as a leader\,  countless sideman recordings including Ray Brown\, Bobby Hutcherson\, Roger Kellaway; soundtrack performances on three of Clint Eastwood’s distinguished films—most notably Academy Award-winning Million Dollar Baby; raconteur\, arranger\, acclaimed educator\, in residence at USC’s Studio/Jazz Guitar Dept.\, when does Bruce Forman rest? \nDeszon Claiborne \nA native of the Bay Area\, Deszon Claiborne began his musical career at the early age of ten. Virtually self taught in the beginning\, he went on to study with world-renowned drummers such as Richard Peterson\, Rick Quintinel (Chuck Brown school of Drumming)\, James Levi\, Billy Cobham and Kenneth  Nash \, an experience which provided him with a strong foundation in jazz\, rhythm & blues and world music. He has had the pleasure to perform or record with the following artists: Peter Apfelbaum\, Don Cherry\, Charles brown\, Angela Bofill\, Les McCann\, Dr. Lonnie Smith\, Robin Ford\, Boz Scaggs\, Greg Howe\, Henry Butler\, Giovani Hildalgo\, Kai Eckhardt\, John Handy\, Taj Mahal\, Donald Harrison\, Rodney Franklin\, and may others.

SUMMARY:Dennis Palmieri
DESCRIPTION:Join Dennis Palmieri for an evening of melodic storytelling and “Pop Piano Cabaret” at Sheba Piano Lounge on Wednesday from 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM. Shifting away from the venue’s traditional jazz and blues\, Palmieri brings a warm\, singer-songwriter sensibility to the Fillmore. His sets are a journey through the soundtracks of the 70s and 80s\, blended with original compositions from his recent debut EP\, Avenues. \nThe Sound: Palmieri specializes in loungy\, piano-driven renditions of iconic pop and soft-rock favorites. Expect a repertoire influenced by the likes of Billy Joel\, Cat Stevens\, and James Taylor—music where the melody is front and center and the lyrics invite you to sing along. \nOriginal Artistry: The performance also showcases Palmieri’s own work\, including his local anthem “Avenues\,” an ode to finding one’s home in San Francisco. His songwriting is deeply personal\, often exploring themes of self-discovery and urban life with a melodic\, sophisticated touch. \nIntimate & Engaging: As a performer who thrives on human connection\, Palmieri turns the lush\, candlelit environment of Sheba into a communal living room. It’s an evening designed for relaxation\, where the music feels like a familiar conversation between old friends. \nA Different Shade of Sheba: While many nights at the lounge are defined by high-energy jazz or deep blues\, Palmieri’s residency offers a “calm and enjoyable” mid-week alternative\, perfect for those who appreciate the craft of a classic piano man. \n\nAbout Dennis Palmieri\nOriginally from Long Island and inspired by the storytelling of the great 70s singer-songwriters\, Dennis Palmieri has become a beloved fixture in the San Francisco cabaret and lounge scene. After years away\, he returned to the city to find his voice as a solo artist\, launching his signature “Pop Piano Cabaret” and releasing his first EP in late 2025. Known for his “unpretentious mastery” and relatable stage presence\, Palmieri is part of a new wave of performers bringing the intimate\, song-focused tradition of the classic piano lounge back to the forefront of San Francisco nightlife.

SUMMARY:Live Jazz
DESCRIPTION:Paris 75’s rotating jazz bands turn this corner of North Beach into a little slice of the Left Bank. Each week a different small ensemble—trios\, quartets\, and vocal groups—leans into swing\, standards\, and café‑style jazz that pairs naturally with wine\, cocktails\, charcuterie\, and late‑night conversation. The vibe is intimate and unhurried: close‑up solos\, brushed drums\, and melodies that drift through the room while guests linger over another round.

SUMMARY:Alison Shearer Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Called “a force on the rise” by JazzTimes magazine\, Alison Shearer’s explosive career hits refresh on what it means to be a jazz saxophonist today. Shearer is the kind of artist who is always asking “why.” She wants to find the similarities between seemingly disparate things\, and in doing so hopefully find something human in everything. Shearer has performed across the United States\, Europe\, Canada\, and South Asia\, both with her quartet and as a member of Red Baraat and Sunny Jain’s Wild Wild East. She has performed with notable artists such as Kurt Elling\, Nate Smith\, Charlie Hunter\, Ben Platt\, Billy Porter\, Kelly O’Hara\, Jason Robert Brown\, Josh Groban\, and the wonderful Orchestra of St. Luke’s. She has appeared on both NPR’s Tiny Desk and KEXP with Sunny Jain’s Wild Wild East. \nAlison gathered her eponymous Quartet in 2015. She writes the group’s music\, and their soulful\, melodic take on fusion found immediate acclaim in New York City\, where the group got its start. Their first record\, View From Above\, was named one of NPR’s Top Ten Albums of the Year and was an Editor’s Choice in Jazz Times. Her most recent release In The Garden (Pinch Records) came out on October 10\, 2025 and was named a best October release by NPR\, which led to an interview with Alison Stewart on WNYC. \nAlison premiered her first ever chamber work for the classical stage in April 2024 to a sold-out audience at USCB Center for the Arts in Beaufort\, South Carolina. The piece\, “Apollosis”\, commissioned by USCB Chamber Music and written for alto saxophone and piano sextet\, got rave reviews and kicked off a flurry of engagements and additional commissions. In 2025 Alison got a record deal with Pinch Records and a second commission from USCB Chamber Music – this time for alto saxophone\, marimba\, piano\, and voice. ROCO Symphony in Houston Texas commissioned Shearer’s first orchestral work\, which will be a saxophone concert based on the abstract artwork of her late father\, acclaimed LIFE photojournalist\, John Shearer. The piece will be premiered at the opening of their 2026 – 2027 season. \nAlison is a passionate teacher and has maintained a private studio for 18 years. She is on faculty at the Jazz at Lincoln Center High School Jazz Academy and at Jazz House Kids\, where her work with young students fosters community building through jazz education. Alison is an endorsing artist with D’Addario Reeds. \nBand lineup:\nAlison Shearer\, saxes and flute\nKevin Bernstein\, keys\nMarty Kenney\, bass\nDiego Ramirez\, drums

A veteran of the international jazz circuit\, pianist Eugene Pliner is known for his technical brilliance and “restless melodicism.” This residency offers a dynamic\, ever-changing musical conversation\, where Pliner is joined by a rotating cast of the Bay Area’s finest instrumentalists to explore the deep reaches of bop\, swing\, and original composition. \n\n\nThe Sound: Pliner’s style is a masterful blend of European classical precision and American jazz soul. The lounge’s lush tropical décor and cozy fireplace create a cinematic “jazz club” feel that invites patrons to settle in for a night of attentive listening. \n\n\nThe Fillmore Tradition: Part of Sheba’s commitment to high-caliber\, no-cover live music\, this performance honors the historic Fillmore’s legacy as a hub for musical innovation. It’s an ideal destination for jazz purists looking for an authentic\, “small-combo” experience without the pretense. \n\n\n\nAbout Eugene Pliner\nEugene Pliner is an acclaimed pianist\, composer\, and bandleader who has been a mainstay of the San Francisco jazz scene for decades. From his legendary residencies at Les Joulins Jazz Bistro to his collaborations with icons like Archie Shepp’s drummer Stephen McCraven\, Pliner has built a reputation as a “musician’s musician.” His latest recording projects\, such as Mémoire d’Antibes\, showcase his talent for original composition\, while his live sets remain a testament to the power of spontaneous creation and the enduring spirit of the piano trio.

SUMMARY:Katy Stephan
DESCRIPTION:Kathy Stephan brings torch songs\, swing standards\, and a touch of twang to the Comstock Saloon’s polished‑but‑raucous barroom. Her voice leans into the room’s natural reverb\, floating over brushed drums\, piano\, and upright bass while cocktails clink and the lights stay low. Expect classic tunes\, a few deep‑cut surprises\, and the kind of between‑song banter that makes the band feel like part of the crowd. It’s the perfect soundtrack for settling into a leather booth\, ordering something stirred\, and letting the night stretch out a little longer than you planned.
