His concerts engage\, enlighten\, educate and enrich audiences with energized multidisciplinary performance utilizing original composition\, thematic improvisation\, dance\, short films and spoken word to create a holistic experience. A firm believer in music and performance as a tool for provoking thought and dialogue\, Charles’s themes speak to the status quo while drawing parallels to history. \nHis work is actively connecting the African diaspora and drawing lines to the regions at the roots of migrations\, evident in his latest release\, NAACP Image Award nominated Creole Orchestra which was named #1 Jazz album on Jazzweek’s top 100 of 2024 after spending 7 weeks at #1 on the chart in the summer. His dedication to music as a tool for social uplift has seen him named as a Laureate of the Arts and Letters\, Anthony N. Sabga Awards\, Caribbean Excellence (2025). He was conferred the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture (2024) and was awarded a Congressional Citation from the United States (2012). \nAs a sideman he has performed with and/or arranged for Roberta Flack\, Chucho Valdes\, Marcus Roberts\, Marcus Miller\, Count Basie Orchestra\, Frank Foster’s Loud Minority Big Band\, Monty Alexander\, Gregory Porter\, Terri Lyne Carrington\, René Marie\, David Rudder\, Machel Montano and many others. His “New Orleans Jazz Band” highlights this heritage\, blending classic NOLA syncopation with the sophisticated improvisational style that has made him a global name. \n\nJules Broussard is a saxophone virtuoso whose career spans over seven decades. Born in 1937\, he began organizing bands in Louisiana at the age of twelve before serving in the U.S. Air Force and eventually settling in San Francisco. He has shared the stage and studio with some of the most iconic names in music history\, including: Ray Charles\, Carlos Santana\, Van Morrison\, Boz Scaggs\, and Elvin Bishop. \nHonored with the San Francisco Cabaret Gold Award for “Outstanding Jazz Musician” and a BAMMIE for “Best Reed Player\,” Broussard is a cornerstone of the West Coast jazz scene. His concerts engage\, enlighten\, educate and enrich audiences with energized multidisciplinary performance utilizing original composition\, thematic improvisation\, dance\, short films and spoken word to create a holistic experience. A firm believer in music and performance as a tool for provoking thought and dialogue\, Charles’s themes speak to the status quo while drawing parallels to history. \nHis work is actively connecting the African diaspora and drawing lines to the regions at the roots of migrations\, evident in his latest release\, NAACP Image Award nominated Creole Orchestra which was named #1 Jazz album on Jazzweek’s top 100 of 2024 after spending 7 weeks at #1 on the chart in the summer. This dynamic duo will be backed tonight by a world class trio with Adam Shulman (piano/organ)\, Brian Fishler (drums)\, and Matthew Montgomery (bass). \nWith a unique style and sound that echo the influences of his past\, Brad Leali is one of the most notable saxophonists of current times. Leali toured and recorded with numerous jazz greats\, including several years with Harry Connick\, Jr. and later with the Count Basie Orchestra. Leali was a standing member of the Kennedy Center Honors Band and performed for President Obama’s first inaugural celebration. He tours and is a featured soloist with the Grammy-winning musician and actor\, Lyle Lovett.
