Marissa McLain Duo
August 5 @ 6:00 pm
FreeMarissa McLain is an emerging vocalist and poet in the San Francisco scene. Originally from Oregon, she spent her early youth as a pianist and cellist before discovering the joy of singing during college. She spent many years exploring the world, living in different countries and cities in the U.S and singing wherever she could. It wasn’t until the pandemic that she took a stronger interest in jazz. Entirely self-taught in the world of vocal jazz, The Great American Songbook has opened up a new world for her and she hasn’t stopped exploring since. Described as having a “warm and rich voice with a giant sense of swing” Marissa has cultivated a vocal style that is endlessly curious and unique. Influenced by greats like Ella Fitzgerald and Nancy Wilson and contemporaries like Lucy Yeghiazaryan and Cecile McLorin Salvant, she is excited to share her interpretations and to continue to build community in the Bay Area.
