The MINA Project
March 31 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Free
Experience a journey to 1960s Rome as The Mina Project takes the stage at the historic Savoy Tivoli. This San Francisco-based ensemble is dedicated to the legacy of Mina Mazzini, Italy’s most iconic and prolific vocalist, whose work defined the sound of the modern era across six decades.
The Music
The Mina Project focuses on the hits of the 1960s and 70s, a period where Italian pop intersected with jazz, bossa nova, and soul. Lead vocalist Anne-Marie Russo—who spent over a decade living and performing in Rome—captures the technical range and charismatic stage presence that made Mina a global sensation.
The quartet delivers a polished, instrumental foundation featuring:
Accordion: Ron Borelli
Guitar: Larry Levy
Drums: Josh Schultheiss
Together, they recreate the sophisticated, cinematic atmosphere of the Via Veneto, blending classic melodies with rhythmic jazz arrangements.
The Setting
Savoy Tivoli provides the perfect architectural backdrop for this retro-continental sound. Located on upper Grant Avenue, the venue’s expansive, canopy-covered patio and vintage interior have made it a North Beach landmark since 1907. It is a space designed for neighborhood connection, offering a relaxed environment to enjoy high-caliber live music while the energy of the district moves past the sidewalk.
