Casements Bar is a “modern Irish bar” that successfully reimagines the traditional pub experience for the Mission District. Opened in early 2020 by industry veterans Gillian Fitzgerald and Sean O’Donovan, the bar is named after Roger Casement—an Irish revolutionary and human rights activist. It serves as a community-centric, queer-friendly “oasis” that swaps out stereotypical green shamrocks for high-concept mixology and a vibrant, inclusive atmosphere.
The Hidden Patio: The bar’s “main event” is a spacious, mural-covered back patio that reviewers often compare to a VIP section at a music festival. It’s equipped with heaters, eclectic furniture, and lush plants, making it a year-round neighborhood favorite.
