Otherwise Brewing is San Francisco’s first dedicated 100% gluten-free brewery and taproom, located in the former Church Key space in North Beach. Founded by Aaron Gervais and Stellar Cassidy, the brewery utilizes naturally gluten-free ancient grains like millet and buckwheat to craft award-winning beers. The two-story taproom offers a welcoming, airy atmosphere with a cozy red-velvet lounge upstairs, making it a unique destination for both serious craft beer enthusiasts and those with dietary restrictions.
Beers with Soul: For over a decade, this beloved event hosted by the talented Booker D has been a neighborhood staple. Every 2nd and 4th Wednesday (7:00 PM – 11:00 PM), the taproom transforms into a soulful sanctuary where guests vibe to funk, soul, and R&B classics played exclusively on 45rpm vinyl while enjoying gluten-free brews and hot dogs.
Marissa McLain Jazz: To help locals “unwind from the week,” the brewery hosts vocalist Marissa McLain every 2nd and 4th Sunday afternoon (5:00 PM – 7:00 PM). Her classic jazz vocal stylings, accompanied by a rotating cast of talented local musicians, provide a sophisticated and relaxed soundtrack to a Sunday session.
First Fridays Music: As part of the broader North Beach First Fridays cultural circuit, the brewery often features special live performances or themed sets to coincide with the neighborhood art walk.
