Marissa McLain Quartet

Described as having a “warm and rich voice, with a giant sense of swing”, Marissa McLain is an emerging jazz vocalist in the San Francisco scene. Her approach to The Great American Songbook is deeply unique, encompassing any emotion and range that the very nature of jazz commands. Her interpretations all come from a place of endless curiosity and respect for the tradition.

 

Emmett Van Leer is a jazz pianist and composer from Providence, Rhode Island. Currently studying with Helen Sung and Edward Simon at San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Emmett draws influence from pianists such as Andrew Hill, Geri Allen, and Thelonious Monk. Emmett has performed in small groups with musicians such as Regina Carter, Ulysses Owens Jr., Marcus Printup, Warren Wolf, and Leland Baker. He is the founder and director of Manning Street Music Festival, an annual arts and music event held in Barrington, Rhode Island.
